Electromagnetic Radiation in the Coulomb-Nuclear Interference Region of Proton-Proton Scattering
In this paper, we investigate the influence of the Coulomb phase on the emission characteristics of soft photons in elastic proton–proton scattering in the Coulomb–nucleus interference (CNI) region at √s = 13 TeV. The scattering amplitude is represented as a coherent sum of the electromagnetic and hadronic contributions, with the Coulomb phase taken into account within the West-Yennie (WY) approach and the Yennie–Frautschi–Suura (YFS) leading logarithm approximation. In a simplified but realistic model, this effect manifests itself at the percent level in the CNI region and exhibits a logarithmic dependence on the threshold photon energy. These effects are important for the accurate analysis of high-energy experimental data.
