Inclusion of Excited Cluster Configurations in Two-Nucleon Transfer Reactions and Electromagnetic Properties of Low-Lying 0+ States
In this study, we investigate the influence of excited cluster configurations on direct (t,p) two-nucleon transfer reactions and on the electromagnetic properties of low-lying 0+ states within a cluster-model framework. The calculations employ distorted waves for the incident triton and outgoing proton, with nuclear and Coulomb interactions included in the adopted reaction model. Particular attention is given to the effect of excited cluster configurations of the residual nucleus on the distribution of transfer strength among the 0+ states. The excitation energies, effective (t,p) transfer cross sections, reduced electric quadrupole transition probabilities B(E2), electric monopole transition strengths ρ2(E0), and Rasmussen parameters are calculated for 152,154Sm and 154,156Gd. A quantitative comparison with the available experimental data shows that Theory 3 gives a smaller mean absolute deviation for the excitation energies and a smaller average deviation for the available transfer-cross-section data. The electromagnetic observables, however, do not exhibit a uniform improvement for all investigated nuclei. The results indicate that excited cluster configurations may play a significant role in the structure and population of low-lying 0+ states in the investigated rare-earth nuclei.
