Commuting daily past a historical building creates lasting memories in our urban lives. The aim of this study is to propose a functional reuse for the warehouse building adjacent to the Sirkeci Train Station in Istanbul. This abandoned historical building in the downtown area has significant potential to connect existing urban spaces. To develop such a proposal, evaluation criteria for the re-functioning of historical buildings have been established. The literature review focuses particularly on industrial buildings, with an emphasis on train station facilities. To support the hypothesis, case studies from various countries with similar functions have been evaluated and a comparative analysis has been conducted. It is anticipated that a food-focused marketplace as a reuse function will contribute positively to the city in both social and physical aspects. Preserving urban memory and ensuring historical and cultural continuity are the primary determinants in selecting the newly proposed reuse function. Factors such as the building's location within the city, its environmental interactions and its potential for cultural tourism were considered in the selection of these case studies. The new program proposal is introduced along with a site analysis in Section Six. The site analysis indicates that the proposal will enhance pedestrian mobility along the coastline from the Eminönü ferry pier through Gülhane Park. This paper discusses the repurposing of an unused historical building in downtown Istanbul, specifically in the historical peninsula.
