This article reports on the design process of recyklung idiophone innovation, focusing on three aspects of mimicry: surface, behavioral and functional. The tubular resonance chamber characteristics of the traditional Angklung were explored, with geometrical variations made possible through additive manufacturing methods. The idiophone rattling configuration of Angklung is primarily maintained, with improvements in modular systems to simplify the production process. Several computer-aided designs (CAD) of angklung tubes with modular configurations were developed and physical samples were subsequently created using (fused deposition modeling (FDM) rapid prototyping method and recycled PLA (Polylactic Acid) material. Furthermore, the sound characteristics of the produced samples were compared to those of the original bamboo Angklung in a sound chamber in a controlled environment. The results indicate that different forms of Angklung tubes produce distinct sound characteristics, which can enhance the creative possibility of composing new Angklung pieces.
