New Heuristics for the Band Collocation Problem
The Band Collocation Problem is an extended version of the Bandpass Problem, based on wavelength multiplexing technology in fiber optic networks within the telecommunications sector. Both problems fundamentally aim to ensure that data traveling on a single fiber optic cable travels at the most optimal wavelength. Various heuristic and metaheuristic algorithms have been developed to solve the Band Collocation Problem. However, the number of such algorithms is quite limited and open to further development. In this study, two original heuristic algorithms are proposed to solve the Band Collocation Problem. These algorithms provide significant improvements over examples in published problem libraries.
