Abstract

The antibacterial and antifungal activity of Fe, Cu, Ni and Zn complexes of tris- and bis-(2,4-bis(trichloromethyl)-1,3,5-triazopentadienato against Gram-negative (Acinetobacter baumannii, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Gram-positive (Bacillus mesentericus, B. subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria, as well as yeasts of the genus Candida (C.albicans, C. guilliermondii and C. tropicalis) was studied. It was found that Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial strains were sensitive to the studied metal complexes. However, Among them, Zn complex had a fairly high inhibitory effect on almost all bacteria, Fe complex exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Acinetobacter baumannii. Escherichia coli, Bacillus mesentericus and Staphylococcus aureus, Yeast of the genus Candida were also susceptible to the studied compounds. The highest antifungal activity was observed for the Ni complex, while the lowest activity was recorded for the Cu complex. The antifungal activity of the former was 1.5-1.7-fold greater than that of the latter.
